When setting up a SharePoint sync in Unthread, you can choose how document permissions are handled.

    Permission options

    Mirror SharePoint Permissions

    • Syncs permissions directly from SharePoint (this is the existing behavior).
    • For this to work properly, the relevant user groups must be synced in Unthread beforehand.

    Manage Permissions in Unthread

    • Syncs the content from SharePoint, but you manage access and permissions exclusively within Unthread.

Files with no SharePoint access (“Nobody”)

For files that have no assigned access in SharePoint:

    • Previously: these files would not sync.
    • Now: these files will sync, but no one can access them in Unthread until permissions are granted.
    • In Unthread, these documents appear with “Nobody” next to them.

    Applying the permission setting

    • If you re-run an existing sync, articles/files with no one allowed access will start syncing in (and will show as “Nobody”).
    • To disable mirroring altogether (i.e., switch away from “Mirror SharePoint Permissions”), you must create a new sync—the new permission setting is available when creating the sync.
